BJP asks all its leaders to get vaccinated within a week

The BJP has asked its leaders to get vaccinated within a week, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday morning.

All Union ministers, MPs, state chief ministers and MLAs of the BJP who are eligible under the current criteria will get their first dose of vaccine within a week, said party functionaries. They said the BJP has asked its MPs to take the vaccine in their respective constituencies in order to create awareness about the vaccine and to encourage people to get vaccinated.

Apart from the PM, vice president Venkaiah Naidu, Union home minister Amit Shah, Rajasthan governor Kalraj Mishra, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik and NCP leader Sharad Pawar took the vaccine on Monday. Bihar deputy chief ministers Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi also took the vaccine in Patna.

The BJP has also asked its leaders to pay for the vaccine, which has been made available for free for common people in government hospitals.

Union Minister and MP from Patna Sahib Ravi Shankar Prasad will take the vaccine in Patna within the next two days, said a party functionary. Similarly, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will get vaccinated in Rampur.

In the second phase of Covid-19 vaccination, people aged more than 60 years will get the first dose of the vaccine, as will those who are aged 45 years and above and have co-morbidities.

All eligible BJP leaders will complete their registration for the vaccine in the coming two days, said the people cited earlier.
