Stock market update: MidCap stocks fall; The New Indian Assurance tumbles 17%

NEW DELHI: MidCap stocks trading on a negative note at 02:52PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of The New India Assurance (down 16.8 per cent), Future Retail (down 5.85 per cent), NHPC (down 5.81 per cent), Godrej Properties (down 4.51 per cent) and LIC Housing Finance (down 3.83 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Aditya Birla Capital Ltd (up 9.76 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (up 4.27 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 3.77 per cent), Honeywell Automation India (up 3.73 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (up 3.6 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 0.91 per cent down at 19854.06 around 02:52PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 219.65 points at 14762.1, while the BSE Sensex was down 846.46 points at 50043.3.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, Central Bank of India and IDFC First Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Hindustan Copper, Vaibhav Global, Ratnamani Metal, Aditya Birla Capital and Poly Medicure hit their fresh 52 week high in today’s trade, while Chandrima Mercantiles Ltd., Sanwaria Consumer Ltd., Interactive Financial Services Ltd., Mitshi India Ltd., Megastar Foods Ltd., Pecos Hotels & Pubs Ltd., Shree Ganesh Elastoplast Ltd., GCM Securities Ltd., Kaiser Corporation Ltd. and Integra Capital Management Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
